Flow
A state of deep, absorbed focus in which a person is fully engaged in an activity, loses track of time and feels a sense of ease. It tends to happen when a task's challenge matches the person's skills.
In the room
A client might explore which activities, like playing music or gardening, bring them into flow, and how to make more room for them in the week.
Something a client might say
“I sat down to paint and suddenly three hours had gone without me noticing.”
An illustrative line, not a real client.
Where it comes from
Flow was described and named by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
